Default 2007 5.9 won't run

I have been reading this forum for several weeks and just signed up today. I am hoping I can get some useful info.

I have a 2007 Ram 3500 with the 5.9 cummins. It died on me last weekend while out of town. Would turn over but would not start. drained the filter and checked for water. Fuel looked good. Had roadside asst. tow it to the nearest dealership. They had it a week and put an injector pump, 6 injectors, and a fuel shut off solenoid. Not sure about the solenoid. They didn't tell me about that, just saw it on the work order. I picked it up Sunday and drove 125 miles back home and it died again. Same thing, turn over but no start. Now the local dealer has it and they are saying injector issue again and warranty won't cover because of fuel contamination. Now 1 thing I specifically asked the 1st dealer was how did the fuel look and they said it was clean. Any suggestions on warranty or dealer assistance? Also it only has 15k miles on it.

I would be wary of that... definitely try to get someone to do a second opinion on the fuel analysis. If there is fuel contamination contact that station immeadiately and hope to god you kept the receipt.

are or were you able to get any codes out of it. There's a lot of reasons that could have happen but without more info.... seems that other dealer may have done way more than necessary.

This scenario sounds a little familar, someonesaid Dodge wouldn't warranty something because of fuel contamination. First, I would get a full report from the first dodge dealer, with the statement that the fuel was clean. Go back to the last place you filled up and get a fuel sample, enough if you have to send in multiple times.

Others will chime in with how they've dealt with dealers, but all of them kept every record and had the dealer document everything. The more ammo you have in your favor will help when dealing with the higher ups.

Good luck and let us know how things progress

Cummins just put out a service bulletin on Oct 31 stating fuels to be used in Cummins engines. Seems they aren't playing when it come to warranties anymore. Fuel for Cummins engines

I find it hard to believe your truck is dead because of bad fuel.... unless you got into something bad.

I get the impression that the first place was just changing parts. Don't know about the codes. The only warning light was the first time I got a service engine light. But nothing the second time. I looked at the fuel sample and there was no water or trash. It was a little cloudy but still smelled like diesel fuel. The first dealership called and talked to the service manager and told him the system was clean when it left. Now the second place thinks I am lieing about not stopping and putting fuel in it and they are not even trying to help.

well, there is a sensor for " water in fuel " which you would think was the code at the first dealer if they did what they did. I can't imagine having that much trouble though. That's what the code being set if for.... to warn of impending danger.

I would think the ball is in their court to " prove " it was bad fuel. You could always try another dealer. Are you close to GA ?

That's what I told them this morning. Prove that the fuel is bad, not just your opinion. Also asked them to explain why the filter system would fail in 125 miles and kill injectors. What part of Ga? Im in Panama City, Fl. Closest part of Ga is about hour and a half away.

curiosity strikes. . . .if you turn the key to run and put an ear near the fuel tank, can you hear the fuel pump???

second I would wonder is if the FCA(fuel Control actuator) is operating properly. sometimes they will stick closed can cause just this.

The first day this happened I tried to get it running since I was out of town. I could here the pump then. Don't know about now. When it happened the second time I just had hauled in. The actuator might be what the first dealer changed not a solenoid.
