Default Buying a diesel

Im looking into buying a diesel. I found a good deal on a 98 2500. It has a 12 valve. whats the main difference between the 12 and the 24 (besides the actual valve count). Is one better then the other and what do you recomend.

The 12 valve does not have as much hp as the 24 but it is probably the most durable between the two. You dont have to worry about all the computer crap going out in the 12 either. And you can mod it up if you want. I would go for it if its what you want. Just make sure it was serviced properly by the previous owner and let er rip. Good Luck and send pics

if it is a quad cab get it. . .those are becoming more and more rare as time goes by.

Don is right about the engine, you can easily turn the power up with a screwdriver.

The 3:55s are good gears unless you are towing heavy on long hills. You will get unbelievable mpg's. Is it an auto or manual?

Buy it...save some bucks up and beef up the tranny. You can probably find a wrecked 2nd gen with the rear dana 70 that you have that has a limited slip. There are also some decent aftermarket limited slips for that 70.

The only thing that make me nervous is that it looks like a plow truck.

Nice looking Ram though !!
