I'm looking into a programmer for xmas. I'm looking only to go as far as I can with an otherwise stock truck. I'm leaning toward the Quad XZT+ right now. Do you think I will appreciate what the extra $300 will give me?

Well Quad has some nice products but, they don't have near the power some of the other boxes do. Many people are running the quad, edge, bd and others and are perfectly happy with them. I'm not trying to discourage that either. I can't say the extra cash will be worth it in your eyes either but, I gaurantee the smarty to be able to deliver more power than the rest.

Some people just want a little increase in power with a very easy three level setting box. Something like 40hp, 60hp and 90hp increase. That's what you get in a edge or quad. Smarty is coming out with a " Smarty Jr. " that does just that too.

I believe the smarty on it's highest level adds 230hp. You really need to have a built tranny to run that high though. Don't quote me on it but, I believe level three adds about 90hp. So, with the smarty you have the option of having that much more hp at your finger tips.

Thanks for addressing my question. I really am hoping for the best mileage gains. I want more power too, but I'm pretty limited as to what my truck will tolerate until the tranny pukes and I'm forced to replace it with a better one.

here's another option to think about...... this would be more inline with a Edge or Quad box

Same features as Smarty Sr. except 3 sotwares instead of nine

40hp economy

70hp tow

100hp performance

plain text code reader

Tire size adjustment

In a nutshell, what does the smarty software "tune" that changes/enhances the stock program? My main interest would be mpg gains, don't really tow alot, but do use the bed payload.

You guys are a bad influance, here I go down the modding road.......

that's the nice thing about the smarty. You can use it or not. It's not hard wired into the truck so all that needs to be done to remove it is hook back up to the OBD and return the truck to stock.

As for mileage.... I have a 6" lift running on 37's with a built engine. On a resent trip from IN to NC, I averaged 19mpg. That was running a smarty the whole way. It does great for mpg's depending on which software you have loaded.

It doesn't change or enhance the stock software. It loads it's own software into the ECM and when you return to stock, the lastest D/C software is loaded back in. When D/C comes out with new updates, they're incorporated into the lastest smarty software for download from their site.

I'm really sounding like I am part owner in this company and am trying to sell you guy on the product. It's not the case, I just know a lot of people here aren't aware of the smarty as it's not advertised like all the other boxes out there.

I tried to get a group buy on it but, they don't do group buys. If enough people are interested though... there may be an incentive :-)
