Default 2001 Quad cab question

I've got a 2001 and the ambient temp sensor is 'missing' (for reading outside air temp). The overhead gauge always stays at -40F. In the manual it says the sensor should be mounted by the hood latch, but I don't have any wires in that area. I have 2 plugs that are in the drivers side fender but the hood hinge, one I know is the underhood light. I'm hoping somebody here has a couple of minutes to check their sensor, where the wires are routed and the colors.

I would appreciate it!
