Default First long trip in a CTD in a while

Wife said that we were going to stepsons new house for Thanksgiving and he need some help moving some stuff from a storage building to his new house. She said that the Mustang or the Dakota did not have enough room for the moving. So I left work yesterday in a 2006 CTD Quad 4X4 dually. Well it is a totally different voyage sitting up that high as compared to the ground hugging stance of the Mustang. I had forgotten how much I love these trucks. Felt like King of the road.... Pulled up to the light next to a Tritan and he looked so small and as it turns out was weak also. Man, I could get used tohaving one of these as a daily driver...Gonna talk to the owner tomorrow to see if I can get a new demo..And in the end I didn't have to move anything because they decided that it was too cold.

There's something about driving a big truck that makes you automaticallylook down at everyone else driving around you and imagine that you could just squish them like a bug if they were getting too irritating... lol

just think too David... you could put the Mustang on a trailer.... tow it to the track with the CTD..... race the Mustang and the truck together and beat the Mustang, load the Mustang back on the trailer... pull it home with the truck and take the wife out to dinner in the truck all while getting close to 20mpg !

That's what I call versatile. A CTD is you man !!

The thing is, I can't bring myself to buy one when I get to drive them for free. Don't even have to pay for the fuel. Heck no monthly payment, no insurance payment and free fuel. That is so hard to beat. Only downside is that I can't mod them the way I would if I owned one. Gonna talk with th owner on Monday to see if I can upgrade my demo...

This isn't my first truck, and it probably won't be my last. I grew up in Colorado, used to go 4x4'ing quite a bit before I moved out here to Las Vegas. I hooked up with a local 4x4 group, but frankly didn't find desert driving anywhere near as enjoyable as the climbing/mudding/camping trips in Colorado. About a year after I moved here someone stole the truck & stripped it bare.I simply don't need a big 4x4 anymore, so Idecided to go with something else. A co-worker bought himself a Dakota R/T about 6 years ago, and I liked the package, so I ended up buying one for myself. Since then I've done different things, the one I'm driving now is actually my 4th Dakota R/T.

Dakota R/T's come with 5.9L/360ci V8's. Mine has been bored/stroked to 6.7L/408ci, plus it has a bunch of other engine goodies such as heads/cam/tb/manifold/etc,4.56 gears, and nitrous. No airbags or frame scraping on this thing, the ride height is governed by a Hotchkis TVS Suspension system.
