about to install guages
i am gunna install guages either this weekend or the next nad i have a few quick questions about it.
how do you get the a-piller off?
on my 01 i dont know were to get threw or around the firewall?
i know every body ask's this but which is most practical pre or post turbo?
do i have to use a tap i think it is after drilling the hole either in exhaust manifold or elbow coming off the turbo?
wich wire did every one tap into. i think some one sayed ciggaret lighter but isnt it constant?
mayfair explained about this bolt for boost pressure i was wondering if some one could locate it for me or guide me in the right direction?
for installing transmission temp probe is it easyer to buy the hose with probe hole ready or just tap into old line?
thanx thomas

the A pillar is snapped in place, carefully but firmly pull on it by grabing both side not to break it apart!
ive goes trough the firewal trough an existing grommet near the trottle cable, there is one rubber grommet about 2 inche wide,i carefully did a hole in it and i put about 12 wire trough it so u wont have any problem doing it
pre turbo for ur EGT sensor, NOT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE NEAR THE END OF THE MANIFOLD!!!
there is a divider there and ull screw up if u do like me :P
to tap the hole, use plenty of lubricant and tap straight and TAKE UR TIME and every half turn in go back 2 turn and lubricate again else ull break the tap and get scewed....
Boost pressure if u got a manual ur wastegate line is rubber, put a T witch is prolly supplied whit the gauge in it
if its metal then sreach for a port already there i dunno what i can see :P

I put my pyro probe in the manifold right between cylinders 5 and 6 since these are the hottest burning cylinders. And as Woligator said, every forward turn, back off a turn or two. I tapped into the intake manifold for the boost gauge.
Why are 5 and 6 the hottest? Less water circulation?
I always thought people put it at 3/4 just because there would be a higher probability of catching a hot running cylinder due to a bad injector.

yes when u started to drill u cannot step back so go ahead, and get a pen magnet to remove all that WILL fall into manifold
and dave between 3 and 4 cylinder there is a divider like i said, trust me i did it last month and had to remove

yea mine is actually on the part where 3 and 4 meet and go to the turbo, and i coated my drill bit with heavy grease to try and catch some of the shavings. and a pen magnet as woli said. it is very intimidating haha but its not that bad bro, use plenty of penetrating oil
Some boost gauges come with boost bolt. Pretty much any of the intake manifold bolts will work. Just remove one and put the boost bolt in its place. If there isn't any thread sealer on the boost bolt, put a little on there to seal up the threads. As for power to the back lighting, I pulled my headlight switch out from the dash and used a test light to find which wire caused the test light to dim with the dimmer switch. (can't remeber which wire it was though without pulling the switch to check it)
