Default So THIS is the Cummins section LMAO!!!

Sorry guys I guess I posted in the Gasoline section....Must be all the Diesel fumes I keep sniffin LMAO!!

So I repost it in here...Sorry for the double post!!

Hey Dodge Maniacs!!

Newbie to this forum, but long time Mopar man!!

One of my trucks started acting funny last month, and I am now puzzled.

The truck started bucking and jerking under load,as if there was air in the fuel system.I immediately went for the water separator drain valve, and no air came out, just fuel.I went home with the truck still acting funny and changed the water separator.Worked great for about 3 weeks. Then snow came snowing and I took the old beast out plowing last week(I could use the other trucks but this one is my favorite;-P) and it was running like ****,acting like it was running out of fuel, and it was hell in that snowstorm to look under the hood.I took it in to a dodge dealer open late and for 345$ CDN,they changed the fuel pump selenoid.Worked great for 1 hour. Now it barely moves. It idles real nice, but acts like a wild horse under the smallest acceleration.

It has a plastic tank and vent,so rust is not an issue, and the fuel line seems ok.No leaks, changed air filter.I ran an injector cleaner and fuel stabilizer thru the tank and changed the oil.

Any others experienced this??Any ideas on how I could fix it??

My lift pump was putting out 01 psi and was still working. About 8 stone cold, and would drop after a couple of miles.

sounds more like you have some clogged fuel lines. . .I'm wondering if the ULSD has rotted your fuel lines.

what i had mentioned to MaxPower1971in the 1st gen section about his 93, is that the ULSD has eaten his seals out of the fi pump. mine had the same troubles this past summer. once the pump was replaced, it has ran GREAT !

I would order the fi pump from

http://www.mwfi.com/VEPump.htm

then its about $450 from most diesel shops to install it. Dodge may not do it. most places want to charge you $1200 or more for the pump!! then labor to install.

call around to find someone who will install if you supply it.

if you're near Phoenix, I could help ya out.

Maxpower,

when youre under the hood again, look at your throttle linkage where it ties the fi pump to the cable assy. there is a ball end rod as a link. I just heard that some 93's have PLASTIC ball swivel ends instead of metal. that degraded plastic would also hamper power availability. I have a pic if ya need one.

I doubt that ULSD is an issue,as it's mostly burning colored diesel(I own a farm )and in Canada the ULSD is not the norm just yet...

I'll be checking that ballend pin tomorrow morning, and maybe get the pump tested....I have a friend that can supply me with a pump at resellers cost,so roughly 200CDN...and I'm pretty sure I can swap it myself...probably get a second, closer look at those fuel lines too.

Thanx y'all for being so helpful!!

Oh BTW I'm in Ottawa Ontario Canada
