Is there anything that can be done about the screach when turning off an 04 Cummins?

 

Pat, All you can do is sit back and enjoy it. the motor stops before the accesories can and that causes it. It grew on me and I like it.

 

turn the A/c off, mine quit doing that all the time, but I think it's the engine stopping before the A/C and if your were it's cold do you have your Defrost on

 

For 2003-2005 (up to 6/2/05) Diesel Rams: If ordering a belt to repair squealing upon engine shut-down, be advised that a new belt will not correct the concern. For customer satisfaction, a new OAP ( Overrunning Alternator Pulley, P/N 05183490AA ) is available to correct the concern. Replace the pulley and re-use the belt (if possible) to make an effective repair. See TSB 09-004-06 for further information.

That's awesome parts man. I didn't think there was a way to fix it apparently thereis. I always figuried it had to do with how fast the engine stopped due to high compresssion.

 

I can see you all running to the dealer tomorrow asking about this.Take the TSB number with you or they may not know about it. I tend to read ALOT and also get emails from Dodge about new TSB's.

another note. . .the screech mainly happens to the autos, us stick guys have that 100+lb flywheel that keeps things moving just a little longer.

 

True, you may still have a squeal. I think every CTD I have ever seen does it. But the 3rd gens didn't seem to be as bad....
