Block heater
just picked one up for mine from my local cummins dealer. dodge dealership wanted like $47, NAPA was like $52 or something. Don't give the dealership or napa your money. From Cummins dealer it cost me $11.62. if my memory holds true i think the part number was 251919 and i think the package it came in actually said fleetguard on it case the cummins dealer says that he can't find that part number.
ditch the dealer and go straight to cummins. . .they stock alot of the parts for our engines since they also install them(in other forms) in freightliners, fords, sterlings and so on.
These guys are correct about the block heater; it's installed on all Cummins engines andonly thecord is an option.
I've been using my heaterwhen the night temps get below 40 deg. The element draws a fair amount of power (I've heard anywhere from 650 to 800 watts), so I bought an Intermatic digital appliance timer at Home Depot and set it for 2.5 hours before engine start. After 2.5 hours with the heater on, my Edge monitor shows the coolant temp at about 100 deg. Immediately after starting the temp drops to around 85 as the water pump stirs things up, but then the temp climbs quickly and I get heat real soon.

I saved it too, Parts/Service. I would have never found it otherwise. Got my cord from Genos on its way. Your the man.

I'd like to know which cummins dealer has a cord for $11.62, I'll order from them. Here in Utah, the cummins dealer charges $45 and NAPA charges $52 and the local dealer (which is out of cords) charges $44.95.
Thanks
