Default 4" exhaust.

The guy that sold me the smarty said he has a slightly used 4" downpipe and can fab up a straight thru system out of 14ga aluminized for about $225. I have read here that losing the muffler will kill the low end. Will the smarty cancel that out? He claims you don't really lose low end boost, the reduced backpressure causes lower boost numbers. I would like your thoughts on this. Thanks.

the lower backpressure will actualy help the turbo spool. . .however you do need a little backpressure to help with exhaust scavanging.

uploading smarty on any level will pretty much cancel out any negative effect ditching the muffler will have. just be carefull with it though. . .for 2nd gen 24valve trucks the smarty gives you the meanest 30hp out there.

Thanks. I thought that was a good price for the exhaust. If the noise gets old, I'll order the 4" aero. No budget with christmas but income tax refund time is coming...
