Looking to upgrade

RE: Looking to upgrade
Whats the mileage like stock vs fun?
How easy is it to pull a little bit more power out of them? (cheapest/most bang for your buck)
Im already smoking ricers with ease in my truck as it is now so as long as it keeps up with what I have now I'll be satisfied (I'll be more satisfied if it goes a bit quicker though ).
Has anyone had any major problems that were fixed under warranty?
Whats the best year to look for if I can not find/afford a new one?

RE: Looking to upgrade
I would look for a 2004.5 - early 2007 5.9. These were the last of the 5.9s and run awesome (not that the other don't). I have had some problems with mine, but I think it was seriously abused by the previous owner. I had a turbo and lift pump replaced under warranty with no problems. Good luck with your search and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Very easy to get ALOT of extra power, just gotta watch that tranny (lotta guys running Edge and/or smarty, I'm gonna go with the Smarty soon I hope)
I smoked a Rumble Bee within about 30minutes of buying my stock truck beat him by around 2 truck lengths, so you'll be happy
Haven't had the truck long enough to have much trouble...
A 3rd gen 5.9 would be the way to go IMO its proven unlike the 6.7 (which is a nice truck, just new and has a few kinks like all new things..)
Best of luck

RE: Looking to upgrade
stock I was getting 16 or so mpg. . .with my TST turned right I can get a solid 19mpg. crunk I get high 17's low 18's all the while blowing enough smoke to shut down roads.
any regrets. . .nope, other than diesel being as high as it is. . .but I am looking at it for the long haul.
