Default 2002 stock exhaust question....

Ok I'm assuming the two big cans on my exhaust are a muffler and cat if I'm wrong please correct me. Funds are limited right now so I'm looking at a cheap way to free up my stock exhaust until I can afford full exhaust. Should I remove just the muffler, just the cat, or both? The exhaust will still exit out the back I will just be deleting one or both the muffler and cat. Also how will wht you recomend to do effect the sound? Thanks.

that would be a perfect route to take, they have a muffler delete pipe at genosgarage.com for around 65$ i think, and you can find 4" pipe anywhere for your cat (which is closer to the turbo) and you will then have straight pipes.

note: they are LOUD, roary and will bring your EGT's down but you will notice a decline in low end speed.

if you wanted you could start the cheapest way and cut the cat out, im sure you can find a pipe for under 20$ and if you dont like the sound from there i would get the delete pipe, and then if your still not happy you can try to run a straight thru muffler which is alot less restrictive than a stock muffler. alot of us guys in here are using a muffler called an Aero, if you search this site or the internet im sure you will see many good things about this muffler.

also i wish i would of known when i paid someone to do my exhaust, KEEEP YOU CAT! you can always sell it and i think they are getting around $100-150 for it used online (i could be wrong on price) or if you ever want or need to put it back on you save yourself the price of buying a new one[:-]

goodluck and let us know how it turns out!

you know what, i dident notice you had an 02... jake is right!

everything you have is 3.5" so in the mean time if you want to spend only a few dollars try out what i wrote above, or if you want to save yourself money in the long run then i would just upgrade to a 4" system now rather than later instead of spending money now, and still having to spend full price on a whole system later if you were even planning on going 4".

Well I do plan on going 4" but $40 bucks to have the muffler removed isn't near the $400+ full system. Thats the only reason i was thinking of doing this because 40 bucks for a louder truck now doesnt set me back that far when it comes to gettin the full system. Jakebrake nice truck....mine is almost identical except its 2wd
