Default RE: clogged cat questions

I just had to cut my cat off because it was completely plugged. I ended up finding a piece of an old turbo inside of it. It ran like crap ever since I got it. It was really sluggish and smoked really bad. I also got horrible mileage, only about 12-14 mpg. I really didn't know it was running bad because it was running bad when I bought it and I hadn't driven another one. The dealer was the one who told me it was clogged because the wastegate on my turbo was sticking in the open position. I also kept getting the code P0299, Turbo Underboost. If your cat is plugged you will know. I can't believe how much power I was missing all those months since I bought the truck.

with the cat off and the stock muffler on the sound is not much different than stock. . .just a little deeper tone.

Yea, it sounds the same in the cab, but a little louder outside. It sounds good.
