Default Some work done on the truck

So I might dyno my truck this week. Any guesses on what she'll put out?

So that head gasket I did a while back, yea it let loose one day on my way to work. The head wasn't smooth enough for it to hold good, I guess it would be a good thing to do if the truck was still pretty new, or you had the motor out and were able to get the block and head resurfaced. Live and learn. Since I didn't get the job done the first time I had a shop do it this time (Mike's in Northwood ND). The Cummins shop recommended him and his price was the same as theirs, and he would do the O-rings. He gave me a tour on a saturday while they were closed and man I wish I could play around in his shop. He has everything he needs in there and some fun engines. One that he was building just for fun and to see where the cummins parts start to fail he plans on pushing close to 130 pounds of boost. The only reason I figured I'd throw mine on the dyno was to get a load on the engine since the roads are all snow covered and slippery around here and if for some crazy reason something with the head isn't right I'd rather find out sooner than later. I'm going to have the TST off because the pump wire connection is intermitten, so I have to get a new tapping method, figure something like the edge has.

Man I don't know what kind of numbers you are gonna pull, but I just can't believe that you had to do the head gasket TWICE now and your still in high spirits with your Ram. PROPS to you !!

Or maybe you just keep blowing head gaskets because you wanted another opportunity to get your ladyfriend all dirty again.

Well I love my truck, I don't plan on getting rid of it. I was really hoping that the gasket I put in there would hold. The cometics are really good gaskets, but they do require an exceptionally flat smooth surface, so I was dissappointed when it let loose, but knew it was my fault. Also it helped that I had done all the work myself because then I was just out the cost of coolant, oil, and the gasket, which was much less than what it would have cost if someone else did it. And unfortunately my girlfriend was just up to visit, she is back in CO right now, although I'm sure I can find some project to do when she comes out again, hopefully it turns out a little better though.

I'm thinking 325 or so at the wheels.

I'm hoping she'll turn a little more than that, I'll still have the edge on, just not stack the TST and edge yet.

I'll bet 365-380 at the wheels.

Is there a rough rule of thumb as to how many pounds of boost to make XX amount of power, like for every 15 pounds on average the truck will make 100 hp? I haven't ever gotten on to the truck since I put the turbo in, so I'm excited to see how it does. I know it would hit 40 and would be at 95 percent backdown on the edge to keep it from going over 40 psi of boost before I put the studs in, I know that is just the fuel the edge would addbut I figure it should still hit the 50 psi (where the turbo comes set) waste gate pretty easy when I turn off the backdown for the boost. I figure I can turn off the electronic backdown for boost and only worry about the EGT's now.

I thought the basic rule of thumb for turbos was that at sea level 16-17 lbs of boost doubles your horsepower. Maybe Im mixing something up?

it is supposed to be in stock form every 10lbs of boost equals roughly 100hp. . .but doesnt apply to all trucks. . .my last run was 425 however I was only pushing 35#
