Hilo, I didnt realize that you are in HILO, HI!!
Ive been there! ate at that pancake housethat "the rocks" family owns!
when I go back to Hi, HILO is my FIRST STOP!!!
the locals there are nicer than any other place in the Hawaiian Islands!!
you familiar with that ol walmart?? yea, I did the self checkouts!!
did prep work in 1 night, had 5 days off to explore the island and wait for the canadian made equip to make it out of customs!!

dunno how these trucks are but my jeep is sorta the same way. you can get it into 4 low when stopped but it's a bit harder. but the tranny has to be in neutral adn rolling slightly is always helpful

Ken's Pancake house just down from the Airport. The only thing in town besides 7-11 that is open 24 hrs a day. As for walmart there isonly one on this side of the island. I would say everybody is familair with it. As for our weather, I think there are 7 different types of micro climates in the US. The thing about the Big Island is that we have all 7.
I won't be able to drive my truck until saturday but will try the 4lo again then. Thanks again for all the responses.

yes, the BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII does have ALL the CLIMATES as you say in "micro" . I was surprised to see cactus like you would find here in Phoenix on the mountain.
it was very cool walkin out over the lava flow there. even driving on it !! to see the property fences buried in 4ft of flow and the stakes poking up an inch or so..

I just realized that your truck is a 2006
is it under warranty? theres gotten to be a dealer on the island, even in Kona.

Kind of hard to jam an electric control in, mine has gotten better about going in and out of 4L, use to make a hell of a ring coming out, I allways tell people we broke it and they thought we were stranded till I drove on .
I did find out you don't want to be on the hard road in 4L, it doesn't like it, I was pulling some trees for my Dad and had to move from one to the other to get the right angle and I found it was best to come out of 4w all the way to turn it around.

Man Kona was AWESOME !!
I stayed at the Hilton Wikaloa and it was beautiful !! The whole island was really nice. I'll definately get beck there someday.

That would be awesome. Might be a little hard to get all the trucks here though. Maybe you could find a travel agent to do a club package and have a DF outing over here. There are a lot of nice places to stay. The Hilton Waikaloa that Mayfair stayed at is probably the most fun.
