Default Considering 03 Ram 3500 (High Mileage)

I hate to let my beloved 12 valve go, but I am looking atpossibly purchasing an 03 Ram 3500 CDT 6spd 4x4 with over175,000 on the odometer. Judging by the carfax report the majority of the miles were put on it in the past two years, so I'm pretty sure most of the 175K was highway miles. What kind of life expectancy should I expect out of this truck? I don't want to throw the money down and buy a high mileage truck if it's at the end of it's life, but I also don't want to pass up a great deal on a truck that I really like.
Everything on it seems to be in working order. The truck is in great condition pertaining to appearanceand drivability. Any thoughts or advice to help me with the decision would be great!!

Thanks,
Neal

the HPCR's (03 and up) are proving to be just as reliable as the 12 valves. there are a few things that do need to be done such as the lift pump unless it has been replaced with the in tank version of the same crappy pump. there are some injector issues of them sticking open or leaking. 175K is just being broken in though. . .there was an 05 not long ago that was seen on e-bay with over 600k and still in excelent working order.

I have a buddy who has a 2002 Ram dually with the 5.9l HO cummins and six speed stick. He is asking $11900 for it and I think that may be a little high. It has 180k on the ticker!

My guess would be that if most of the miles were in the last two years that he was useing the Ram as a work truck and probably towing with it.

Not saying that's a bad thing, just what i was thinking ...
