My prayers to your friend. Have faith, he'll pull thru. Being a bike rider myself for the last 20 years ('87 Harley softail custom) I to have had close calls, and have seen some horrific accidents. Unfortunately, almost all bike accidents are caused by the auto driver not the bike rider. In fact just a couple of years ago a dude and his wife riding there dresser obeying the speed limit was run over from behind by a elderly lady driver. Not much was said in the news about the driver, but ALOT was said about the couple on the bike. As far as the news is concerned, if you are on a crotch rocket, then you either was doing stunts or streetracing and the accident was your fault, or if on a Harley your a gang member and probably done something to bring it on yourself. I had a old biker tell me once, assume the car doesn't see you and know ahead of time what you will do when he does pull out in front of you. Helped me out a time or two. I will not give up my riding, and have been known to ride without a helmet once or twice (illegal here), and a firm believer in "load pipes save lives". So, chin up, he is lucky to have a friend like you by his side, and I am sure you two will be talking about this for many more christmases to come.
God bless,
KenZ

Sorry to hear about your friend. I've been riding bike's since over 20 years and unfortunately I wrecked numerous times. But the time I thought I'd share with you is when I was 16 and my girlfriend was riding on back. We went around a corner way too fast, a parked car caused a car coming towards us to be in the middle of the road and so I veered to the left of that car, hitting a parked car and then bull's eyed a tree. She was hurt serious, in the hospital for months. The guilt derailed my life for years to come. Don't let that happen to you as you can't change the past and most likely if it had not been your bike, your friend would have bought someone else's. I still ride a bike today, but I don't let friends drive it or ride on the back with me.

well man, i feel ya dude...me and my best friend, who ive known for 17 years of my life (im almost 23) both got rockets few years back, i got an R1 and he got a brand new zx10r...well we rode like idiots, and he crashed at 45mph and broke his C1 vertebrate, which is the irst one under your skull, 99% of the people who break that die, or are paralyzed for life...its the same injury dale earnhardt and christopher reeves had. well he was in a coma for 3 weeks, and finally pulled out of it, and to this day he is 100% normal unless you want to coundt the trachia scar on his neck, and he is about to be a father in a few day...so hang in there man im sure he will pull through, god has his ententions for him

first off i am sorry to hear about your friend! that story kinda hits close to home minus the accident and all with a buddy i have. hes got a 750 gsxr and hes a nut on it..... this last summer we went thru he got to the point where he could hold a wheely for as long as he wanted going up to speeds over 100 mph easily. we ride alot and w/ me having a cruiser he always says he needs to ride with me more often because i can not and will not take part in games like that on a road when there is that much danger involved, i mean your already on a bike and that can be real dangerous as times just driving. well to make a long story short he was out without me on an october day tring to get one of his last rides in for the year and he got a reckless driving ticket for doing a wheely (on a freeway going over 100), then he went out the next day and got ANOTHER reckless driving ticket for the SAME EXACT THING!!! 2 reckless drivings in less than 24 hours[:-] not hes in all kinds of trouble with the law and the fines involved but it could of easly been an accident or even death doing stupid stuff! IMO i am somewhat of an adrenaline junkie and i get off so to speak on the rush of danger but there are some things i just wont try and being stupid on a bike is one of them, another is driving without a helmet....

hope you friend makes a full recovery!
