Default towing

i had to bring my boat to the dealer last week. i have a class 5 14000lb tow beast hitch. my boat motors and trailer weigh aproximately 10000lbs and i have about 900lbs on the tongue. when i was on the highway doing about 70mph, the motor didn't even feel the boat. the 6 speed auto with jake brake worked awesome. the only thing that made me uncomftorable was the rear end had alot of sway and felt mushy. i have single wheels running at 60psi per the label on the door. if i air them up to 80 will it make it better, or is there anything else i can do? i only went 3 exits on the highway, but i snowmobile 400 miles away and will be towing a 38' enclosed trailer that is 12000 lbs. just looking for some suggestions.

you can try a little more air, and maybe some weight on the tougue, unless your at your limit, thats a pretty heavy load, your gana have some sway no matter what. And just a note that theres no jake brake on these trucks, just an ex-brake, those are for the big boys..haha

equalizer chains or bar. keeps the sway to a minimum.

Did you check the air in the trailer tires? If they're a little low they'll sway. Also if the trailer tongue height is too low it will sway. You want it level or the tongue to be a little higher. Boats are tough cause all the weight is on the back end. When you load your snowmobile trailer just try to keep as much weight forward as you can.

your right, but as most normal people think of jake brake on semi's. Jacobs brakes are used throught the vavle train, whole different setup,on the light duties these exhaust brakes are just basiclly flapper vavles in the exhuast piping
