Default Nerf Bars and Brush Guard

Are there any places to get cheaper nerf bars and brush guard. I am going to modify them a little and spray them with line x so they wont rust anyway. The prices I am getting locally are rediculous for those items. Bars $399 Grill $800-$1200. I dont need stainless because of the line x,so carbon steelshould last 4-6 years before they rust from the inside out. Stainless will last much longer. Any online venders you guys use?

Just from experience. Cheap ones will **** you off in the long run.

Cheap ones that flex and give will actually do more damage to your truck if someone does hit it, even lightly.

For me, as far as "brush guards" go, I like to ones that are actually bumper guards. The ones I've used in the past were WAAG FrontRunners and were were stout, but not obnoxiously big. They didn't blow your lights, could take a decent hit, and were powder coated very nicely. I hit a deer at 35 MPH and it didn't leave a mark other than some hair and blood and the bown thing spinning off to the side of the road.

What ever ones you look at, make sure they have mulitple mounting points. Not just under the bumper, but also brackets that go between the bumper and grill or are mounted to where the tow hooks go.

As far as step bars, you can beat N-Fab's for fit, finish and overall strength. I've had two sets of Westins in the past and unless you get the stainless, they rust out pretty quick.

The westins are what was quoted at $399. The bumper guard is mostly for deer (im sure the grill for my truck is about $1000), If I hit another truck the guard wont do that much to save the front end. The steps are a must now because my wife has problems getting in the truck. On the 3" tube style that are most common can you remove the rubber pads. I am going to line x them anyway, and doubt the pads will reconnect. Is there holes under them that I will have to weld and grind smooth?

If you were in Oregon, W. WA, or N. CA I would have a possible line on a custom fabricator for your nurf bars and brush guard.

the fabricator used to build brush guards that would plow over huge frickin stumps and not hurt the truck. you could push, pull, or what not with them

Check the westin E-series. They are available in stainless to reduce the rust worry and are a good bit cheaper than the signature and platinum series that most places want to carry. Got mine for right around 300 including shipping. Had them a year or so now, quite pleased.

Those "girly" grill guards won't stop a deer!! Spend the money if you do alot driving where wild life maybe a problem and get a well built bumper like Road Amor or Fab four or similar. I seen what a deer can do to grill guards! Although if ya hit a moose the big bumper ain't going to help alot. $1000.00 to $1700.00for a deer banger is alot cheaper then $8000.00 to$15000.00 for a new front end!

Already "mowed down" two deer was lucky enough that they didn't spin around and take out either side of my truck, the bumper is still straight and true!

I might look a a bumper replacment. I like the tow hooks and have actually used them a time or 2, but i guess I can buya masive bumper with tow hooks like yours. I dont like the brush guard mounting through the grill. I could get an after market bumper that maybe would come up a little on the lights, or I could fab a little on it.

Did you get your insurance company to pay for your guard?
