4lo clunking sound

Default 4lo clunking sound

hey guys i put my truck in 4lo today and noticed it making a clunking sound when going in forward or reverse [:@]. in 4hi it runs just fine. anybody experianced this before or have any idea on what might be wrong... thanks

anyone?????? i read something about maybe greasing the driveshaft however it does run well in 4hi so dont think thats the problem.....any input would help thanks....

If it doesn't do it in 4HI, it must be the transfer case itself.

are you making turns when it is doing this???

also the only time you need to be in 4lo is when you are able to let the front wheels slip so the chain doesnt bind up and break. . .

no not doing any turns just going straight and it makes a clunking sound..

Do you meant it does it more than once going foreward in straight line, even when you don't increase or decrease speed?

yes it is a constant clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, while im dirving in 4lo....

You don't have locking hubs or anything do you?I take it it doesn't make any noise in 2WD

If it doesn't amke noise in 2WD, I'd say your transfer case is shot
