Default OT - My wife's gift

Hey guys, want to share what I bought for my wife as a Christmas gift. She has no this gift is coming, but I think she will like it.

About eight months ago I bought a used Smith & Wesson 3913 Ladysmith 9mm pistol. It had a bare, beadblasted stainless steel finish that was kinda dirty, and the grey plastic grips were less than cool. Here is a pic:

So, I wanted to turn this old Ladysmith into something cool for my wife. In July IFedEx'd it to Novak in West Virginia for some customizing. This is what they did:
Installed their tritium three-dot night sights
Tuned the extractor
Tuned the trigger pull
Sent it to Robar in AZ for a satin black Roguard finish
Installed a set of Hogue coco bolo wood grips
Zeroed the sights for 15 yards with Federal 115-gr JHP

I just got the pistol back yesterday (it spent several months in the queue at Robar). It looks fantastic! The pic doesn't show theawesome black finish very well, but here it is:

Very nice. The lead time to get this done should score major points!

Yeah, I actually meant to give it as a birthday gift in October but it was eight weeks too late. I guess it was destined to be her Christmas gift.

Women in my Mom's family could out shoot most men, and my Grandmother would have had Annie Oakley looking for a new job and she never practiced.

Us guys would go and buy a bunch of 22 ammo and a new bag of clothes pinsto improve our aim by spinning the pins on the line, Nanny would letus shoot for about an hour and she come out with a piece of string and tell us to put it on one of the pins and then she clip it a 1/2 inch at a time till it was gone and then it was 10:30 in the am and the sun just came over the hill and lit up a spider web on the barn and she clipped it one line at a time till itfell to the ground and we all said it at the same time, time to clean guns and here Nanny I clean yours for you.

She had more guns given to her by people who would come showing them off to my Uncles, She never shot a pistol in her life and one guy was bragging how good he could shoot it,Nanny asked if she could try it and put five in the same hole, he gave her the pistol and it cost him a lot, but saidanyone who can shoot it that good should have it.

Now my Mom didn't shoot that much either and Dad and I was always at the range on base, we had a 38 Combat Master Piece that had been worked over and would drill holes, Mom couldn't hit anythingregular with it, now give her one of our old 45's that we couldn't do all that good with and she would drill the x out of a target

I like the upgrades a lot...never been a big fan of lady smith's but that one looks very nice. Hope she enjoys it as much as it seems you enjoyed doing it up for her!
