2001 Ram Diesel 2500 NO POWER WHEN COLD. PLEASE HELP
I have a mint 01 Ram 2500 with the cummins engine. Has a programmer, dual 4 inch, intake, etc.
When you start it cold it fires right up no problem. Idles perfect and seems to rev fine. Put it in gear and put it to the floor and it takes 45 seconds to get to 35mph.
It has zero power until it warms up. Then it runs perfect basically the entire time. Sometimes when it is halfway warmed up and you turn the key off when rolling and turn it back on the pwoer is right there.
Im lost.
Please help me out as when i pull out of the driveway there is a hill annd it wont go up it cold.
135k miles on it. truck is flawless and perfect.
Do not know what is or has been replaced.
if it is the injection pump what are my replacement options and benefits please?

True CTD section is better... but... i am also part of both forums muah haha.
You prob have a fuel prob or your grid heater is probably not working.
do this.... Get into truck, turn on interior lighting, watch the lights, and turn key to "ON" - do the lights dim down some and then when the "
Wait to Start" light goes off, do the lights return to normal brightness?
If lights do not dim, more than extremely likely your grid heater is not working- instead of glow plugs, cummins has a heater grid that heats the intake air until the truck is warm enough to run without it on.
If lights do dim, then it is def. a fuel prob, check lift pump output pressure.
Could maybe be fuel heater...

What kind of air temps are we talkin? Could be that your lift pump has died or is in the proccess of dying. Cycle the key from off to on 3x leaving it on the 3rd time. Your odometer should start displaying fault codes.
Can you reset the proggrammer back to stock and see if it still does it?
