Default Whistle to my ears

Well, I finally did the first mod to the engine in my truck. I put a BHAF in. (see Drews thread in the FAQs) I love the way it whistles.
While I was in there, I removed the baffles in my intake.
Here are some pictures of what I did.

Here's a picture of the "cover" I removed from one end of the intake tube. It is glued together. Just put a flat bladed screwdriver in the seam and slowly work your way around and pry it off. This pic shows the top offset from the main tube.

Here is a pic of the "baffle" that I removed. There is another baffle (I didn't get a pic) in the bottom 90 deg. tube next to the turbo. I ended up taking a screwdriver and "cracked and chipped" the baffle out of there.

I used a 30 minute epoxy to glue the top back onto the main "tube". I applied glue to both pieces to help with adhesion.

After I glued the pieces together, I applied more glue to the seam. Can't be too safe

Here is a pic of my original air filter. 8 months and 14,000 miles. YUCK!!!! I noticed what looks like "dry mud" on the airfilter near rubber flange. (bottom of this pic) I am definatly going to get an outerwears cover for my BHAF. I cant order one for another week. Outerwears.com is not taking orders over the holidays. I guess we are all entitled to a vacation, so I will just have to wait.

My intake box. I haven't even taken my truck off road yet!!!!!

My filter minder. It was just getting into the "red zone". I was able to pull it down over half way the day I left the dealers lot.

It wasn't too hard to take the baffles out. It was harder getting the tube to fit over the air filter. Taking the baffles out lets you hear the turbo spool. I will give DC credit for designing a quiet intake system. The box, baffles, and silencer ring on the turbo make it kinda hard to hear the turbo. It's there, but you have to listen carefully. Now, anything above idle and you can hear it.

VERY noticable now. I used Drews thread on installing the BHAF in the FAQs. I moved the Intake Air Temp sensor from the air box to the tube just like Drew. I had to route one of the battery cables on top of the tube. Other that that it looks just like Drews

nice work on the pictures, ive always wanted to know what it looked like.... i might just have to tackle that because the sound of the turbo is better than music when im driving

After this free year of satelite radio that came with the truck, I think I'm going to start paying for it. The radio stations around here suck.

I deleted the minder when I put my intake on. Never did trust those anyways I just blow off the filter every 5k miles andthings look just fine. I've got a 6080amsoil nano and 6" dia torque tube the famous"*****'s whistler" from DTR.
