speedo recal
alright, still havent decided whether or not to go spend the $89 at a dealer to have my speedo adjusted. so, what will help me decide, is to know if i can actually hurt anything by not having it done. is the worst thatwill happen is that my speedo is a little slo and that my truck will show less miles than are actually on it? or will something eventually wear down andbreak because of it? i only went from the stockers to 315's (they were supposed to be like 35's but i measured them and they barely clear 33"[:@])
just get a smarty!! haha
but the dealer up here in Maine doesnt charge anything to do it....and the dealer in Asheville NCwhere I live said they would do it for free as well..they did charge me $40 to flash my PCM and TCM though...but i expected that!
a 305 should be around a 33
a 315 should be around a 35

i checked both dealers around here and both charge 89. as for my 315's i know they are supposed to be about 35", thats why i got them. they are the bfg a/t. i like the tire so far, but like i said, they only measure to 33", barely. as for the smarty, i have one. but i have decided to not run it just yet because i have so few miles on my truck. dont want to take the risk of voiding my warranty with only 800 miles on it. that would be down right irresponsible

Just hook it up and change it. But do like I did. It took me several adjustments and trips of up to 100 mph with the GPS to get it adjusted "Right On" . It is still a little less than 1/2 mph off at 100mph but that is less than 1/2 % difference so I left it at that.
Thats crazy to have the tool in your hands but pay the dealer to do it man!
Doesn't it also effect the shift point on the auto's? If so by not having it calibrated close to correctly aren't you putting more wear / tear on the tranny?
And Buzzy why do I get the feeling you really didn't need a reason to drive around at 100?

But with the 35" tires I only turn about 2200 rpms. I'll bet this truck will do every bit of 130mph @ 3000 rpms
