No Power to the starter relay in the distribution box
Hey All,
I have a 2000 Ram 2500 4x with a Cummins. The other night I parked, not at home of course, this old girl never breaks down at home. When I went to restart the truck and go home there was nothing at the switch at all, no click etc...The batteries were fine I checked the nuetral safety switch. It checked out O.K. So after crawling back out into the snow , and having her towed home......
It turned out to there was no power at the starter relay in the power distribution box. I ran a jumper wire from the batterywith an inline fuse to the relay plug. Plugged the relay in, and she fired right off. Can someone tell me where the power feeds to the relay from ? The manual says the plug (# 30) on the relay should always be hot. Will it fry anything if I run with the jumper in place until I can track down the problem ?
Thanks !

RE: No Power to the starter relay in the distribution box
Check your ignition switch AND the cylinder inside the switch. Mine did the exact same thing and it turned out that the cylinder had cracked and broke off inside the switch. The only place to get one is from dodge or a junk yard. If you go the junk yard route, you more than likely won't get one keyed the same as the doors. The dodge dealer was able to key it the same as the old one. Yes this is one of the very few times I have ever gone to a dealer for "ANYTHING".

No voltage to solenoid
Hi,
My 2001 dodge caravan have a no crank, no start issue. I found out I needed a new starter, which I replaced. still no connection to my solenoid, I checked the relay switch, which is good, I replaced the the switch, and still no power to the starter solenoid/ starter wire to the solenoid.
I need your advice.
What could it be that I'm over looking, or need to replace.

I have a 2007 dodge ram 3500 cummins diesel. Both batteries are good. Unit won't start. You can just the start relay. It will start. The dash at this time doesn't work. seems I have no power at the dash or the start relay. Installed new fuse panel under the hood. Same issue. cleaned starter wires all good.
