Default tranny leak

So we just get a crap load of snow and when I move my truck I see a puddle of red fluid. Crawl underneath the truck to find that where the line for the trans temp nut(not sure of proper name) is threaded in is looser than hell. I could turn it with my finger like it was hardly in there. Called where I had the gauges installed and he said to put some teflon tape and screw it in. He also said don't thread it in too tight because theres linkage in there. Did what he said and everything seems fine. Checked trans fluid and all seems fine. Why didn't they have teflon tape on there to begin with. I'm starting to wonder about this well known diesel shop..

Lucky for you it was just a loose screw and you found it in time. I think teflon tape should be standard with any tightning of something important.LOL I was under my truck this morning and saw my tranny pan leaking slowly. The truck only has 15500 mi on it and has never pulled anything. [:@]

Before this happened I thought my tranny was leaking as well. Ended up being a clamp that was loose on the coolant line above the tranny. I would check that first because my father-n-law had the same loose clamp on his.

Well I have to take it in again for a CIL coming every two days so maybe they can make sure its not a pan leak, just so I can sleep at night.LOL
