Default 2001 cummins question for turbo

K guys I have a 2001 cummins quad cab. My upgrades are edge comp, afe CAI, 4in exhaust, stage 3 injectorsand the fass fuel will beinstalled fri. 1/4/08. K the problem I have is I can only boost 25psi and I know the turbo can handle well over that. but My truck is the 2001 automatic with the brass line so noboost elbow for me. so what can I do to get more boost besides buying a bigger turbo at this time. Just had my first kid on x-mas eve so no big money spending for a while. Anysuggestions would be great. Thanks

The waste gate is set to around 25PSI on the 2001 trucks. Either a new turbo or do something to the wastegate like woligatorsuggested.

A turbo from a manual trans truck of the same year should work, then you can use the boost elbow. But with all those mods I think you should just get a bigger turbo. If money is an issue, just plug that metal line off for now. I did a writeup on it somewhere. Someone better at diggin stuff up might be able to find it for ya.

I HAVE A 2001 DODGE B2500 DIESEL WITH TURBO. IT JUST STARTED ACTING UP YESTERDAY. IT WAS COLD ( 30 TO 35) WHEN I STARTED IT UP. I HAD THE HEAT PLUGGED UP FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. WHEN I WAS HEADED TO TOWN GOING ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN I STARTED UP AN INCLINE THE ENGINE BOGGED DOWN- PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND STILL KEPT LOOSING SPEED. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE SPUTTERING. I CHECKED THE TURBO AND AIR FILTER. THE FILTER WAS CLEAN AND THE TURBO TURNED FREELY. I ALSO REMOVED AND CHECK THE LUBE HOSE FOR THE TURBO, IT WAS CLEAR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO TRY. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD....

sounds like a fuel problem. change the fuel filter and add some addative to the fuel tank

when i got my 01 the boost pressure was really low so i took the wastegate line off of my turbo and found out that someone had put a brass stud in it but didn't seal the line back up tight to the turbo. after making sure the line was sealed to the turbo and leaving in the brass stud i am now running around 30 to 35 psi. my truck is also an auto thats why i couldn't get an elbow for mine. this works great though until i can afford a bigger one.

could be (like Jakebrake said) a fuel problem

or like I just had.. a turbo intercooler boot issue.

Yeah, check your intercooler boots and intercooler for leaks.
