Looks like red oak. That's about the heaviest wood there is. It also burns the best. I burn from Oct 15 to April 15 every year. It's a lot of work but it's nice when the electric bill comes.

 

I'm old school. A good maul and a wedge works for me. Of course my back still hurts.[:@] Think I'll pop the top on some "medicine"

 

We burn all winter also.....we are on electric heat here [:@][:@]....every couple years someone at the electric company freaks out when they see our power bill DROP in November This year they went so far as to come out and replace our meter.

Last spring when we were bringing a load home the truck did just fine.....the trailer springs have never been the same since...but the truck did fine!!

I asked the older guy who gave me the wood if it was red oak. He said it wasn't, but it sure was red inside, and heavy too! Watermelon might know. It was his friend's place. Believe it or not that full truck was from one tree trunk! That was one big motha. But it's stacked nice and neat and ready to heat my home now!

 

I knew I should have gotten a pick of my truck hauling wood today. . .got me some red oak from a co-workers house.

only down side is the wood is still quite green

 

All I have to do is get the wifey to sit on my tail gate and my truck drops 10 inches [:@]Nick, I pretty sure I can get plenty more wood if you need it, just gimme a holler
