Default Large Diameter tires...

Question... Most people have brand loyalty, when it comes to tiresor programmers or even to blondes brunettes or redheads. Large tires have issues with keeping their "roundness", some have poor turning characteristics (rolling over sidewall). Some are great in sand or loose gravel, some grip more then others. Some are better on rainy or icy road conditions. Just looking for input from those that are running large diameter tires.

I've probably, in fact I know I have opened the "pandora box" on this one, but feel the questions to be legitimate, if those that responed could just simply answer the few questions with out commenting on the negative of other brands it would be appreciated. In other words tell me about what your using currently.

Thank you

I am running Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's
Size: 35" x 12.5" x 18"
Load range: E
Total miles on set: 3500
Not rotated them yet
Not rebalanced them yet
Mostly run empty and on pavement and seem to have a goodgrip on wet roads. Could be better but good.
Been offroad a few times but nothing nasty enough to put them through a good mud test.
Very Minimal road noise, seldom here them.
Drivability is awesome and have not had problems in turns. They actually handle very well for such an agressive thread.
I have no noticable wear yet, even on the front. No scalping, cupping or anything.
I keep PSI at 60
I have heard several people getting well over 50k miles on these tires!!

I have 33 in BFGs. They were on the truck when I got it but I think they have about 30k - 40k miles on them. They have about 20% tread left. They are quiet on the highway, but they are only 8-ply. Wet traction is horrible, but other than that they aren't too bad. I will never buy another set unless I can get 10-ply. I think there are much better tires on the market. I had a set of Mickey Thompson's on my old half ton and they were awesome. Hope this helps.

What size tires: O/D 315 70 R17

Brand:Pro CompXtreme Mud Terrain

How often are you having them balanced? (larger tires seem to require balancing more often then small dia tires):

15000 miles: Rotate at 7500 miles

Wear Mileage:Front7000,Rear17000 ish
Do you drive mostly paved roads:90%
Highway speeds regularly:Yes normally between 75 to 80mph on long trips
Haul large loads regularly: Heaviest road was 12000 up to property in Crown King AZ. 4x4 last portion tire gripped worked well. (4 wheel to keep rear tires from spinning)
Run empty mostly: 98% of time.
Off road useage %: 10% Have had tires in mud over rocks and in sand tire perform wheel just a bit soft if truck bounces and spins lugs chip out pretty bad. I would buy them for a highway or light 4x4 tire again, but would purchase an additional set of something better for major off road trips.
