im new ere and had a question i just did an oil change on my truck and the light came on afterwards...
how do i reset it is there a button or sequence of key turningé redal pushing

 

What year truck?

CEL / MEL will give a code w/ the 3rd gens that can be retrieved using the 3-key trick: turn the key 3 times from off to run and any codes should show on the ODO.

its an 06 2500 deisel

 

w/ an 06 you should be able to pull any codes w/ the key with no problems.

Take your patience to the dirveway though. Last time I had to pull a code w/ the key it took me a good 5 tries.

 

Did you take off the air intake tube to get to the oil filter? If you did andyou disconected the wires from it to the sensor, then you have nothing to worry about. It does it to me when I take it off too. But I have a programmer and can clear myown codes. If thats what it is, you'll have 2 or3 codes and it won't effect the truck, it should drive fine. Just run by the dealer and have them clear the codes.

 

probably just a code for "unable to build oil pressure or slow to build oil pressure" while cranking . Cycle the key and get back with the codes.

 

Did you fill the filter full of oil before you put it on?
