This sucks. I got a check eng. light friday morning just as I started my truck. I have restarted many times to try to get it to clear with no luck. Took it to autozone and the scaner will not talk to the ECM(they say that happens alot with diesels). I cant get the truck into the dealer for another week. I tried cycling the key to try to get a code but no luck. Any ideas on how to see what the problem is?

 

Not sure it will work but turn the key on, then off, then on, then off, then on. See if anything is displayed in your odometer.

By on I mean to the on position, not start.

The key trick does work...it is just a PITA to do.

A bunch of the programmer's also will show / clear code: got a buddy w/ and Edge?

 

Just this morning my 07 got the same thing, Started it engine light come on hooked up the scan tool tried to read code all I got was a "error", Even tried to erase it and got the same thing "error" Truck runs fine can't tell of any change in performance. Oh well I guess into the dealer as well.
