Default Looking to buy 3500 CTD

I have the oppurtunity to purchase a 2006 3500 4x4 Mega Cab with the following information. I've been looking for almost a year and doing a lot of reading on this forum. Everyone seems pretty helpful. So I'm looking for some advice to join the CTD club. This could be my first diesel and I'm looking for questions to ask the seller to make sure it's a fair deal. Asking price $28,000.
Thanks in advance.

i think the price is a lil high being that i got my w/ 11k on it for 28500 from a dealer. but then again i suppose it all depends on where you are and how many people want it. i know it can b hard to find these trucks used with all options that you want, and if thats exactly what your looking for my advice is to go for the glory and join the team

Thanks for the reply Nickcoletti. It has about all the options I've been wanting. Plus it's red and I'm a sucker for red. The 6.7L emissions have kept me from getting a new one. And finding a 5.9 with the options I want has been hard like you said. I just don't want to get over excited and impulse purchase a truck and not be happy about it later.
I'm hearing the 2008 CTD are not having as many DPF problems. So if I have to I can wait and get one of those. Now I'm reading the Mega Cab wont be offered in 2009. So if I want a Mega I may have to pickup a '08.
Anyway, I appreciate your thoughts.

I don't think that is a possiblity w/ a CTD

I think the price depends a lot on where you're at...that rig would go for a lot more up here.

Looks like a nice truck. If its been well cared for it would be worth it.

I bought mine about 6 months ago sight unseen. Not a good idea. The previous owner should be shot. I don't think he/she did any maintenace on it. I've had nothing but problems, but I'm starting to get them worked out finally.

Not trying to scare you, but just hoping someone can learn from my mistake. Just make sure its been taken care of and you'll be fine.

A 2006 with 92K on it seems rather excessive if yo ask me. I'd keep looking. If your heart is set on that particular one, I don't think I'd pay more than 20K for it.

Again I really appreciate the feedback. It's been an interesting weekend. From what I've researched over the last 6+ months $28K for a diesel 3500 with all the options listed was probably fair. If as 04QC4X4 said, "If its been well cared for it would be worth it." Unfortunately this truck is about 100 miles away. And I have not had the chance to inspect it personally. I would jump at the chance to get this truck for $20K. So I offered the sellar $25,500 and I have not heard back. So I think he has another buyer or just isn't interested. [&o]
But the more I read here, keeps up the urge to get a CTD . I'm not even paying attention to Ford or Chevy ads when I see them. And my best friend has a Chevy Duramax that I've driven and been very impressed with to the point of getting me started to look at diesel pickups.
Looks like it's going to take me some time. But I'm going to get there...A CTD owner.[sm=drooldude.gif]

If it wasa delivery truck the miles are not bad. were they all local deliveries that would cause a lot of short trips or longer deliveries?

I hate to say this, but as the economy worsens I'm afraid that you are going to see more and more really sweet pre-owned Rams up for sale because people can no longer afford them.
