Don't sweat the weld job. The place I took it to was a hack as well, but at least it works and sounds great. You'll get over the hack job in no time.

in my case you are exactly right..... i had mine mounted just a little back from where the cat was and i was getting a "rice burner" sound when i made the rpm's jump... thats when i added another straight thru where the stock muffler was and problem was fixed!

 

WOW......I can't wait for mine to come in!

 

You don't live too far away, I live in Spring. I'd be more than happy to let you hear it first hand any time you feel like driving down here.

You might be right Froger, there's probably a couple of feathers showin'....But she likes diving it, just needs ALOT of practice with the stick. She uses every one of the 6 speeds, revs to 2000rpm, and slooooooooooooowly lets the clutch out. She's getting better, and would rather she toast a stock clutch learning than a high dollar hipo clutch. Going to get her behind the wheel this spring with the fifth wheel hooked up and get used to driving with the trailer. Would be nice on traveling on vacations knowing I can take a break from driving for awhile.[sm=icon_guiness.gif]

 

Would the aero4040xl sound better if you put it where stock muffler is or where cat is? (assuming u will delete stock muffler and cat)?

 

based on my experience and listening to others who've put it where the stock muffler used to be.... put it where the cat is gets my vote...
