I am removing my trans right now just about got it but i am kinda stuck. Could not get my shift stick off so i left it on & left the bell housing connected to the motor. I got about one more inch before my input shaft clears the bell housing but my shift stick is hitting the floor board. What do i do to get this thing outta here??? [/align]

 

you coulnt get the stick off?? the trans your puttin in does it come with a new one?

 

I am just getting it rebuilt. manual said you need special tool to get it off??? I don't know how to take it off. It seems like i have to to get it out though...

 

cut it and buy a new one

 

Take all the rubber boots off and you will access where the stick goes into the trans, take two screwdrivers and push down and then rotate the collar to the left, Yours may also just have a snap ring that holds it in, with a flashlight you should be able to see an external snap ring around the outer groove, if thats the case, remove the ring and pull the stick out. keep at it you will get it. But they are a pain in the *** put back together! But once you get it apart it will help you to put it back together. Dont worry, you really cant break anything, just keep at it.

 

yeah it has the collar and it is def. a pain in the ***. Thanks i am gonna keep at 'er.
