Default towing with programmer

So Ty, I am running the smarty and I am going to be towing a trailer this week about 600 miles round trip. I am assuming that it is best to remove the programmer? Thanks for the help.

I ahve an Edge and i tow with it set on level 2 with no problems at all. I'm sure theres a setting for the Smarty for towing as well.

Iset my Hypertech to the highest setting and left it there. It has been set on stage 3 for 2 years and never been changed since. I tow with it in that setting and get good results. I'd check and see what the best setting is for towing.

To me, what is the use in a programmer if you can't use it for towing? That is what I bought it for in the first place.

I guess I'll do that. I don't think it should hurt too much hopefully.

you dont want to put too much thtough the tranny that it starts to slip, but enough to make towing easier.

Without guages to monitor tranny temp and EGT, using a programmer is risky IMHO.

my brother used to tow with a 06,3500,drw ,CTD ,6speed. He pulled onavg about 21k and had the edge chip i dont know which one but he ended up craking his manifold and ruinig the turboand the truck would do some really wired stuff ..chip ended up costing him alot of money and down time for his business. I am in the same line of work myself (hualing cars) and i would never use a chip towing or not, just my opinion..

If you don't watch your EGTs, yes you can screw it up real quick. Just ask Triton.
