Brain Bustin Idea
I think the idea has merit. Maybe you could use one of your wife's nylons. Secure an appropriately sized ring around the open end and stuff it down the filler neck. That won't help with water seperation, but it wouldn't trip the sensor on the nozzle. (patent pending)

well. . .you could always plumb up a high flow low pressure pump with a filter that just circulated the fuel back into the tank, that way it would continously filter the fuel.

Ok, sorry, I haven't had internet for a few days. So what about a huge milk jug sized filter that you could just point the nozzle into, and a custom funnel that fit around the huge filter. Fuel isn't always clean, and at todays prices, sometimes you cant afford to fill at the same station if it is more expensive than everywhere else. I like RoadKings idea, but isn't anyone else up for the challenge of rigging up a real prefilter? Drew's Idea was good, but it requires more work than a funnel-type filter would. I know that there are redneck-fabricators here, I've see a home-made intake or two, along with some other stuff.
