Mileage testing... what's wrong with this picture?
Observed an issue here today... what's wrong with this picture?? (refer to the mileage thread in the sig for all the details of what 1/2/x etc means...
1/2/s/th 193.0 249.0 397.0 533.0 - 575.5 32.131 17.911 complete 20 oz of PSD (white)
0/0/s/th 200.0 261.0 414.0 545.0 - 571.4 31.914 17.904 complete stock settings, no psd.
0/0/s/th 185.0 253.0 400.0 522.0 - 569.8 32.451 17.558 complete stock intake manifold
1/0/s/th 181.0 240.0 390.0 - - 437.2 24.990 17.488 complete stockintake...
2/2/e/th
yeah it is... my past experience at lower mileage on the motor showed an increase on the #1 setting. and yeah I know about the torque setting not having an effect until power is at #2 or higher... it does show that the ATS intake will get you approx .4~.5 mpg higher than the stock intake though... I'm on the 2/2/e setting now and will be done with it by Wed/Thur. I'd expect that number to track lower (.4~.5 mpg) as well. one other thing to bring up... I havent been running psd in about 10~15k miles thru most of this testing and beyond... I wonder if the injectors could be partially clogged. I did run b20 & then b99 thru it back in december... just no sure how that would help cleaning the injectors.
I'm thinking that when I'm done with the next tank I'll run the psd thru in a slightly higher concentration and see how it does.
another thing you missed is I didnt take a hit from the winter blend fuel... 17~18 mpg in the winter months... never had that before.

Don't underestimate how hard it is to do a MPG test
that you can depend on the results from.
You can prove this to yourself
by just doing 3 MPG tests in a row
with no mods
and finding the 'natural' variation.
Doing 3 tests in a row is the first part of the TMC/SAE test.
It is like shooting at least 3 bullets at a target
to find your 'group'

what I was mostly looking at was your mileage after the change over to the stock intake.

that is a good point Hank... could rack up 3 tests in a week & half
the current settings on the TST being 2/2/e should give me that same .4~.5 mpg drop when compared to the ATS manifold Drew... we'll see on Thursday.

BTW, I'll have some mileage testing done this week between smarty and TST on approxamate same HP levels.
and just to give a little spoiler, my gage is showing a little higher right now with just smarty on 90hp.
