Default disapointed CTD owner

this past weekend i did my first major haul. i pulled a 3 place enclosed snowmobile trailer (v nose) to northern Maine. The trailer is 1800 pounds and three sleds at 500 pounds apiece and me and two guys plus gear at 250 pounds apiece. that equals 4050 pounds. my best mileage was 10.2mpg at 65 mph going up, and coming home i was shy one sled (engine blew up and had to leave it at the dealer up there) and i could only get 11.3mpg. this was a 400 mile run all highway. i thought this 6.7 was suposed to be great on fuel. when i am empty on the highway i see 18 - 22mpg. does this seem like normal or do you guys think i have a problem?i don't think the mileage on a diesel like this should be cut in half over 4000 lbs.

THe mileage will increase once you get more mileage n your motor.

Also there have been many complaints about the sam ething concerning the 6.7... Wait for someone else to chime in but I beleive there was an issue with DPF Regen causing poor mileage.

Welcome to the forum and hopefully the other members can help you understand the conundrum

Have you had regular servicing?? Fuel filter been swapped. Alot of people are finding the best dependability and mileage gains aftyer 20k to 25k miles, and thats after regular towing as well. If you haven't towed alot already it may take some more time.

Dont expect much more mpgs pulling an enclosed trailer. I pull one about 20k a year with about the same results. V nose or not, there is alot of wind resistance. My trailer is a gooseneck and weighs about 4k empty and I only get 13 to 14 pulling it and my 04 is a 2wd. it will get a little better after you tack a few more miles. Just give it some time. Good Luck

I can not see that much weight making that much of a difference. there has to be something wrong.
