COMPLETELY OT: just deal with it
OK today my dad came over and brought one of his bikes. For x-mas he got me riding lessons that will get me tested with the state so I can get my endorsement. Ever since I was 5 years old and my oldest sister put me on her bike I've ALWAYS wanted to ride. I just never did it. Which is a good thing because at 19 I was way way way to much of a hot head. I would have killed myself back then for sure.
So last weekend I went and bought my helmet (KBC full face modular in black). Started looking at riding jackets and such; don't think I'm gonna go with leather (like the look and feel of the fabric gear).
So dad's going to let me use his for a while tell I figure out exactly what I want. It's a Suzuki V-storm 650. I was worried about a 650 being to much bike for me to start out on. But after today I feel much better.
So now I'm sitting here giggling like a little school girl. I can't wait tell next month when I get through my class and am legal.

I don't know if you can see it...but that has to be the biggest grin I've had on my face in a long time

The hubby says he's gonna get me a jacket that says "Biker Chick" with a frog on a bike w/ training wheels

Looks like fun! I have a Virago 750 when I was younger and I lived in Northern Michigan. Now I like in Southern California and every time I think about stopping by a cycle shop I get stuck in traffic because someone on a bike died in traffic. I'll chalk it up to Devin intervention! Keep your eyes moving and don't ever get complacent. Enjoy!
well i would get a bike but my parents think i will kill my self. (they may be right)

I had an 1100 Goldwing for a little while (cost me 50 hours of tree clearing). Sold it about a month later. (college is expensive). I recently graduated, I think I am in the market for a 1100 Vstar. Shaft drive, air cooled, can't get any simpler than that.... Good luck to ya frogster.
Cool. a biker chick. Loud pipes and helmits help save lives. Like everyone said keep the eyes moving and for the love of god do not tailgate. I see people out here in Phoenix (the stupid driving capital of the world) on motorcycles tailgating and I just think how lucky they are to still be alive.
The whole visibility thing is why I don't think I'll ride in leathers. Now if only I can find a riding jacket in neon GREEN

Everyone would be able to see me then!
We have a lot of riders up here. Summer time you can't go 50 feet with out seeing another one. I know it is not the safest hobby in the world. But that is why I'm glad I'm starting this one a little later in life.
The thought of being able to commute to and from work for almost 2 weeks on 5 gals sounds really nice also.
