wiring schematic needed
my ctd is dead in the water.
I have been looking for a wiring diagram that shows the pcm pin configuration for the 93 d250 ctd.
believe that it has been found previously, but I do not recall where.
truck ran fine Sunday.
today..
dead battery
factory guages still not working
od still not working
cruise still off line
some where, it may have said that the pcm controlls the alt output to the battery.
guessing that the pcm died and the alt is not allowed to charge.
any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

Our PCM is VERY limited in what is does thankfully.
In a nutshell, the PCM watches the crankshaft position sensor (CPS/found mounted to the block, just above the crankshaft dampener, at about 11:00). When the CPS tells the PCM that the crankshaft is rotating, the PCM in turn powers the fields of the alternator.
Give me a second to find the PCM pin-out . . . .

thank you!!!
do you have the schematics on your pc???
ok. mayI get you to clerify the pcm testing proceedure for me please.
the write ups on diesle truck resource are clear as mud...
thank you!!!

No, Not on my PC. I'm using a digital Rebel XTI to photograph the FSM page, edit it with Photoshop, and host the image(s) with PhotoBucket.
Clarifying the testing of the PCM won't happen on forums. WAY too much stuff to go through. The FSM goes about diagnosing PCM related issues by system meaning, if you're having problems with the charging system, the FSM has you go about the tests sequentially including the PCM as is required. In each case where troubleshooting a given system indicates a problem with the PCM ~ replace the PCM.
Um, MY write-ups at DTR are clear as a bell and generally written for the novice. In your case regrettably, I've not done any work that required me to mess with the PCM therefore, I've not written about it. Sorry.
Anyhoot, Kevin, it sounds as though you need to get ahold of an FSM.

fsm...field service manual???
I wish..
just called my mechanic at Dodge.. at his home...he somehwat clarified the pcm test proceedure where ya check a few pins for power. if I am able to start it tomorow, the truck is goin to him first thing in the AM so he can use the Dodge computers to check it all out. i told him that the truck will have to be left idling in the lot till he can frive it back.
I am still interested in the general pcm test procedure to do at home.
btw....my alternator is about 4 months old. may i check for power output at the alt itself with no pcm??

RE: wiring schematic needed
after performing a fast charge on the battery and letting it sit for a number of hours, the truck fired up and is showing on the dash (and on my meter) 14VDC tot he battery.
I am a bit peeved [:@]
still thinking I should get the proper size battery for it tonight.
stock size is 950cc type 31.
should I go bigger??
I have the truck idling for a few minutes to see if the alternator output vanishes...

after 15 minutes of idle time, I am still registering 14VDC at the battery. the ALT is holding!!
earlier today, I pulled the PCM connector, main chasis connector, and the 2 connectors that feed from the alternator . cleaned them with CRC electronics psray cleaner and allowed to dry for a few hours in between the rain storms we have had all day...truck is out in rain [:@]
the truck seems to be running better elctrical wise.
I will update if it goes away again ....
thank you !
