Default Power loss due to no muffler or cat

I read a thread on here about another member maybelosing power and mileage after deleting the muffler and cat. I deleted mine and added a cool air intake trying to lower the egts when towing. When I first reprogrammed my truck it would walk sideways hammered in third gear, mileage was up over 20, I didn't remove the muffler and cat until later. Didn't pay alot of attention at the time. After reading the post with this question, got me to thinking, I do belive that power and mileage both are a little less. Mileage was down to around 19 and power while still good didn't seem to have the same "hair on fire" feeling. I figured I just gotten used to it. After installing the Air Dogfuel system mileage is back up a little over 20, but I don't think power level is back to what it was. I thought it was probably just the new fuel. A lot of rambling just to get to the question, would this Aero muffler you guys talk about bring this power back without raising the egts you think?? I know gassers have to have a certain amout of back pressure to operate right, are diesels the same? Thanks for any response...

Not completely off topic, but I bought mine with duel exhaust and no muffler. A buddy of mine told me that I'd have problems towing without any backpressure. Any truth to that? He also said that he knew how to remove the restrictor plate... Not sure how big I am on that idea either...

yes an aero will help with low end torque... I had a straight thru mag w/o kitty & lost mileage & low end torque. really showed in the city mileage. egt's dropped really quick on cooldown and were lower overall. when I added the aero where the kitty used to be my mileage came back up & low end torque also came back up.

well diesels dont really use the back pressure its not that important i couldnt see it making a diffrence if you didnt have a muffler or a cat...
