Well when my truck would set for a day or two it would be hard to start. Well not hard to start, just that the starter was turning allot slower. So I said I must have left something on in the truck. Nope. I went to the dealer and had a load test done. one battery was 100% and the other was 75%. They replaced the 75% one. Today after it seat for 3 days it was dead as a hammer. Know it is out of warranty. Some thing has to be pulling it down. Anyone have a idea of what it could be?
First question I'll ask is "is the stereo stock" not uncommon for an aftermarket amp to have a faulty turn on circuit and stay on, thus draining the batteries.
Yes the stereo is stock. To run down two batteries in two days it must be something pulling more than a few milliamps. I wonder if the grid could be doing it.
There are other easily overlooked possibilities.
1. Cargo Lamp
2. Some rogue interior light, (glove box?)
3. Ignition switch could be faulty, (GM's are super notorious for it)
Cargo light cuts of automatically when left on,same with the interior,
If the ignition switch was faulty. I do not think so because the radio cuts off when I open the door and everything cuts off.
I got great voltage off the alternator (14.2 volts +/-). I just cant help to think it is the grid kicking on. I had heard of someone here having a short or a openon their grid and it did the same thing or close. Maybe I will get lucky and that person will read this........
You could get a test light, hook it up, and start pulling fuses till the light goes dim. Then you could track down the circuit that is giving you trouble.
i was aving a .4amp draw too but once i tightened every ground, cable and connections i saw it was gone
