If you engine temp doesn't reach proper operating temp, your t-stat is probably stuck in the open position. The engine is being " supercooled". Change the stat and you should be fine.
Good luck with your ride.

hey thanks
what are some tests i can do, to determine if its the thermostat? It blows good heat out of the heater. Do you think it could be a head gasket problem? What are some test that I can do to determine that the head gasket is at fault? Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated?

you can test the t-stat in hot water. it should open around 180-200F (68-79C) and you can visualy see it open up. if it opens sooner then the wax on the inside has been contaminated. if it is open when you pull it out then you can easily tell you need a new one
