Yeah, that's interesting. Also, the US Air Force has been working for years on a synthetic version of JP-8 jet fuel. In December they flew a B-52 that had all eight engines running on the new synthetic stuff. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123035568

the Air force is considering building a coal to liquid fuels plant (synth fuel) here at our base. We have a flightline that has not been used in 12 years, so we got plenty of on-base real-estate for use..

If the USA had built synthetic coal to fuel plants in the 1980s near the western coal fields
like the South Africans had USA construction companies build for them at SASOL II
we would be paying no more than $1.50 for fuel now
rather than $3 +

Sad but true

NO Canada is, you have more oil than Iran, why do you think they want to get rid of the borders, so we can just take it then and mexico's too.

Leave it to Richard Branson to do something like this. I think it has more to do with his hate of the oil companies than it does "clear fuel".

He has stated in the past that he is going to build his own refinery so he could bypass the greedy oil companies when he fuels his jets. I'd like to see him start building some refineries and bio diesel plants.
