RE: Craftsman oiless air compressor question
Well then Jr. if my 33 gallon oil-less compressor gets so hot then why doesnt it give off steam, heat wavesor even melt the frost off when it -15 degrees when I fire it up?Awood box with insulation isnt going to be air tight enough to starve it of air.

Nope, it will overheat.
Mayfair, I think it is just how old yours is. I have a new 26 gallon craftsman oiless compressor and it is 1/2 as loud as my old 6 gallon compressor.

Maybe try building an insulated box around it, might be worth a try.

RE: Craftsman oiless air compressor question
Hey Mayfair, just give the damn thing to Jimmy. A while back he was looking for a device that would crank his truck every two hours, I am assuming so he could **** off his neighbors. He never did say why he wanted to do that.
But hell, it would be much easier to put your loud a$$ compressor on a timer!!!!
Here ya go Jimmy, Problem solved!!

Get a longer hose and put it in another room

Take a look at this pic. You'll see my 2 bikes sitting in my driveway which is the back of my house. Now if you look in the garage door, all the way in the back you'll see some bi-fold doors. THAT is the FRONT of my house. The ONLY place that I could run a hose to and keep it quiet would be if I stuffed it in my neighbors garage.

RE: Craftsman oiless air compressor question
The pully and board contraption was there because the house was being pointed. My neighbors house on the right was done prior to mine. Its a benefit to living in a rowhome. When a roofer or whatever ( in this case a brick pointer ) shows up to work on someones house, usually enough people who live on the block hop on the project and thus lower the cost for everyone. This brick pointer wound up doing over 20 houses on my block alone.
