What is the HP of a stock 1999 5.9? Trying to get an idea as to where I stand now with it.

 

I think it was something like 240 hp and around 440 ft-lbs torque, but I'm not 100% sure. Someone will chime in who know for sure.

 

The reason I ask is that i heard today that it is 180..... I have a grand am with more than that. I just figured it could not be.


My truck runs great and all I did was put the juice w/additude and a 4" straight exhaust on it. It's awsome. It has to be putting out allot more now but I still cant see 180.

 

to be sure there is a tag on the engine on the left front cover. It'll say isb then some number after it. That number is your hp. I believe yours is an isb 235

 

I believe my 2000 is the same as the 1999's.

It has 235 bhp @ 2,700 rpm and 460 lb.-ft. @ 1,600 rpm- with the manual transmission

215 bhp @ 2,700 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. @ 1,600 rpm- with the auto transmission
