I have no idea...but is this true?

first he said this:

Your only getting about 65 max from a 2nd Gen Smarty. You'll get increased spool and more bottom end fuel , As well as kill your top end numbers, I only run one to spool my charger!

You comp drag should be timing and fueling and the smarty set on non timing level such as 8 , The smarty is a great addition to a wire tap box but does not add much power unless in a 3rd gen! In a 3rd gen a smarty and edge wont stack!

and then this:

The smarty will only add a good bottom end burst of fuel in a 2nd gen! It killed my top end number over 50 RWHP.

3rd Gen Edges uses a much diffrent system to create power than a 2nd gen. 03-05 FOR A FACT do not make any more power with the edge smarty stack. The TST uses a diffrent method THROUGH the ecm to raise rail pressure and timing

is this true?

Him and another dude were going at it about it was or wasnt true...haha

I don't know about the other stuff he's talking about but he's right about the 65hp. Smarty's aren't so great by themselves on a 2nd gen that is pretty well known. Info from mads FAQ's:

Q. How much horsepower will the CaTCHER add to my 98.5-02 engine?

A. That is the most FAQ of the FAQ's! My answer usually is: none. Those who have followed
me through the years or already own a CaTCHER ECM know that I'm kidding. For instance,
the CaTCHER deals not only with the top range Hp of your engine. The CaTCHER is VERY
noticeable from idle up. As soon as you touch the throttle, you will KNOW that the CaTCHER is
in there.

I will try to give an serious answer for the first time to this question.

First of all, the power added by the CaTCHER depends upon the mods done to the engine.
That makes this question even more difficult to answer. On a stock engine typically we see an
Hp increase at the rear wheels of about 60 Hp.( Is there still such a thing, a STOCK truck??? )

With taller injectors the Hp gain increases. How much? I don't know! That depends upon the
injectors, turbo, intake , exhaust... You got the picture. The best mod combined with a
CaTCHER is without doubt a good set of injectors.

Fuel pump wire tapping boxes WITHOUT added timing come next if you're after serious Hp.
In that kind of scenario the CaTCHER becomes very noticeable in the top Hp range.
I have customers that have gained over 75 Hp with that kind of stack above all other stacks
they had tried before. If you have ears...

The most difficult stack with the CaTCHER is with boxes that add their own timing.
For those cases we've stuffed the softwares without added timing into Smarty.
Yet, I have to say, we're not taking the full advantage of the dynamic timing the ECM can
provide.
It has been proved many times by now. The CaTCHER stacked with a fuel only box provide
the highest Hp gain. More than what a timing&fuel box that can't be stacked with anything will
provide

Yea I've been wondering the same thing. I love the guages of my edge but my TST is much better off idle and I'm not sure I want to tap the pump wire twice so I've been thinking about the smarty. I know the smarty and the TST would be a better stack as the Edge does timing but I really like have a pre and post turbo pyro and the turbo timer based on post turbo EGT. I see in your sig it says you are running the edge smarty stack, how is it?

I find that the smarty and edge stack work fine for my application. I leave the smarty on 2 all the time and run the edge on 1. If I want power, I set the smarty on 8 and the Edge on 5. But for me, it all depends on the amount of power we want. I like the edge and smarty, for me it is enough. For some, the smarty and edge isnt enough and they want more. That is just the way I look at it. I really like the stack!

Good to know. Is there a major difference with the smarty/edge stack over just the edge? What I'm really interested in is the off idle throttle response. I want the snap that my TST had.

I hate to say it but there is a huge difference...with my edge on 0 the smarty is acaully pretty weak but still better then the edge....with my smarty on 2 even and just the edge, it is still pretty weak. I turn the smarty on 8 for the weekends just as tonight and with the edge on 5 it grew about 5 ball sizes bigger.....you just have to play around..but i like the stack..and edge on 1 and smarty on 2 i get pretty good milage as well!..

good luck man

Thanks for the info, I think I'll be trying to find someone local who would be willing to let me try it out one of these nights.
