Default help, nitto new tire sway/waggle problem?

2005 CTD QC HD 4x4

Finally wore out stock Michelins 265/70R17E LTX A/S after 64K miles. Decided to go with a more agressive look and step up size a bit.
Had Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/70R17E put on today. Man, they look good!
Here is my problem, driving home today on the highway the truck had somesway to it. At times it felt like I was on ice almost, the truck just felt like it was waggling. Not drastic, but like if you were to take the wheel and turn left and right real quick.
Is this normal?
Hoping maybe the tires just have to get "broke in" or something.

Well.. I Doubt It Would Be Sidewal Structure on That Size Nitto's, and Because The Are E's. I Had My Nitto's For Only A Week But They Felt Strong - Infact Too Strong, I Felt Every Bump On The Road.

It Maybe Due To The Extra Height & Width.. Since Your Previously Had E's It Maybe That Your Not Use To The Extra Tire Height Yet. Otherwise Go Back To Your Tire Place and Ask Them To Re-Check The Balance.. And On The Short End, Could Be A Defect In the Tire.

the only time i have ever felt anything like that on any tire was when they were underinflated. my buddy has the 38" nittos and they are so hard he usually runs them 20lbs low... even then they don't feel squishy. to get that feel he needs to be somewhere around 40lbs low

I picked up a set of those about a month ago and felt like they did the same thing. I thought they were low but they were fine (60 psi). I don't really notice it now. Not sure if it is just the way the tire grips the road or not.

Same thing happened to me when I stepped up to a 285 on my last truck. I think since it's a taller tire there's a little more wiggle because the extra height in rubber. You'll not even notice it in a week or so. I doubt anythig is wrong with your tires unless they weren't balanced very good (which is always a possibility).

I have a set of 265/70R17s Nittos and 2 or them have about 12, 000 miles on the and they aren't gonna last much longer. They were in the back and I maybe hauled one light thing since I've had them on the an I just drive on the highway alot. Once this wear out, I'm gonna get some Michelins because a guy at NTB said people had said good thing about them and they have a 60,000 mile warnaty and Discount says the Nittos should last bout 40,000 miles which I don't see them lasting that long.

thanks for the info. did you get the E rated Nitto's? If not, that may have contributed to the early weardown with the heavy CTD. I researched the tires a lot before I bought and found many more positive reviews than negative for the Nitto's.If you go with Michelin, I had performance issues with the LTX A/S in wet weather. I see that Michelin has a new all terrain LTX A/T2 not sure how that one performs but it is E rated.
