maybe its nothing, but...
well, i'm still convinced there is something wrong with my dodge. i have mentioned this feeling before, but not in its own thread and i havent heard much about it. as my sig says, it's an '07 quad cab 4x4 auto with the 5.9, 3.73 gears and swb. for work i drive an '08 ford f-250 super cab or crew cab, whatever ford calls it, 2x4 with lwb. from what i have heard everyone saying, there shouldn't be any comparison between the acceleration from a stop or from a go as the dodge should run circles around the ford. this has not been my experience. only my top speed is better on the dodge: i can hit 107, vs. 97 in the ford. i have driven the ford since 225 miles on the odometer and i got my dodge with 500 miles on the clock, i am assuming from test drives. i bought the truck in october 07 and i have almost rolled to 1300 miles since i have to use my company truck 99% of the time. compared to how i hear all of you guys talk, my truck seems sluggish. there has never been a cel to my knowledge, and i don't know anybody with a stock ram to compare. however, i do work with others who have to drive the same ford for work and their dodges used to be stock and they told me the dodge had better acceleration. any help or information or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
hah! i would if i could but i have to use my work truck everywhere i go! i get to put a few miles on each week most weeks, but not always. i hope to have this thing payed off before i hit 5000 miles! i thought that maybe the lack of miles might have something to do with it, but if that were the case how do people that test drive both brands brand new notice that the dodges are that much better? anybody else have any ideas?
ouch! poor snake! his owners should be shoved into an engine compartment for letting it get into that position!! but no, mayfair, nothing like that under my hood!
With so few miles on it how often do you get it out on the road to get the engine to full operating temp? If you do a lot of short drives under 10 miles one-way you could have carbon build up on the injector tips. Also your rings most likely not seated with only 1300 miles on it. BTW, do you treat your fuel as I assume it sets for a long period of time in between fill ups? If it sets with less then a full tank often you can get condensation/water build up in the tank and that’s not good for the fuel system or your injectors. Have you changed your fuel filter yet if not it may be a good idea to do so? When you do change your fuel filter look to see if you have an algae problem a.k.a. a black looking gooey slime, if so you will need to use and additive to kill it.
What you need to do is either leave 2,000Lbs of weight in the bed so when you do drive it works the engine to help seat the rings and also get it up to full operating temp more often. The best way to seat the rings is to hook it to a 4-8K trailer and take it on a long drive some weekend to get the cylinders hot to clean out the carbon and seat your rings. Its preferable to drive it non stop except for fuel for 24+ hours one way, take a rest and drive non stop on the return trip back home.

i make sure to get it to op temps every time i drive it, but i haven't towed or hauled anything yet. the only triler i have right now is a gooseneck and i only have a regular hitch on this truck. i'll check the fuel filter to see how it looks later this week.
oh yeah, and i have also done a few times what i read on another post, is to put it in 1st or 2nd and drive at about 3k rpm here and there
