OT I think one more lesson will do it
I like to crab till I get to a 100 feet and then go into a slip and yes you were way over the crosswind limits of what I would try in a 150.
I think the one that stick out the most was the one I did coming back from a cross country with a fellow pilot, he flew out and I had the return trip back to ORL.
We were 10 miles to the west landing on 7 and could see a big *** storm heading for the airport, the tower told us we better hurry as they were going to close the airport till the storm passed over.
My buddy was looking a little worried as he had less hours than I did at the time, but seen I wasn't worried and just watched and didn't say a thing, we could make it down or go somewhere and sit for a few hours till the storm was gone.
I made sure all was normal and I wasn't getting in over my head, the rain was at the other end of the runway coming our way quick,I was in a crab the wind gusting every way in the book, but I stay on the center line as best as possible, went into a slip then came out of that as I had a 40 mph head wind floated down
to a great landing with another pilot on board.
Than we went and got wet tying the plane down.
My secound best one was during an anaule and went into a airport I never been to before because of the crosswind and came out of the crab and slipping right, touched the right wheel down first while watching the big miltary copper that landed next to the runway in the grass 100 yards from me , wondering what his wash would do to me, then lowered the left and then the front wheel while holding the pilots wheel towards the wind and greased the landing added power and took off again.
Then the old navy pilot was bragging what a good job I did on the check ride, but I didn't get a big head as the next time I couldn't do and thing right for him, such is life, maybe he had to give the old lady some, before he left the house that morning LOL
